The best home essentials are easy to reach for. Here is a practical introduction to your heated house boots, from choosing a comfortable setting to putting them away.
01. Make yourself comfortable
Use HeatStep indoors while seated, awake and able to check the warmth. Give the cables a clear path so they cannot pull, snag or create a trip hazard. Disconnect before moving around.
02. Check the fit
HeatStep is offered in one size. Approximate external dimensions are 31 × 12 × 18 cm per boot. Those are the outer dimensions, not the internal foot length or a guaranteed shoe-size fit. Your feet should feel comfortable without being squeezed.
03. Connect the power
Connect each boot to a compatible USB power source, following the supplied instructions and electrical ratings. A power bank and USB adapter are not included. Do not use damaged cables or wet connectors. Keep any external power source in a suitable, ventilated position as its maker instructs.
04. Find your setting
There are five selectable heat settings and a one-button control. Start at the lowest setting and allow time to assess how it feels before changing it. Higher is not necessarily better. Turn off the heat if it becomes uncomfortable.
Use only while awake. Do not sleep in powered heated boots. Do not use them if you cannot reliably feel or respond to heat. If you have reduced sensation or a condition affecting your feet, ask your clinician whether a heated product is suitable.

05. Finish and care for them
Switch off and disconnect all power after use. For cleaning, gently wipe with a damp cloth, keep electrical connections dry and allow the boots to dry completely before reconnecting. Follow the care instructions supplied with your pair. Store dry, with the cables loosely arranged.
A little ritual to keep
A chapter of a book. A quiet coffee. A comfortable break from the desk. Give the moment a clear beginning and end, and let the boots be one useful detail in it.
